Many terms have been circulating throughout our discussions. In class, we will step back and look across our readings to collectively think about “media,” “media studies,” and “mediation.”
Please read these short introductions to books on media studies/media theory. These essays offer a range of approaches to contextualizing our key terms:

We will not meet as a class today. You can find the midterm schedule here. Feel free to shift to another available slot.
You will select five artworks, readings, or objects from the course so far that will form the basis for a short conversation. These can take place individually or in pairs.
You can bring a one-page handout with stills and passages from the texts/films you chose.
